The Cologne-based business DeepL SE created the neural machine translation service DeepL. It was introduced in August 2017 and uses advanced deep learning methods to produce translations of a high caliber that frequently outperform those of its rivals. DeepL has grown to support 33 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, and Ukrainian, after initially supporting seven European languages. Both free and premium versions of the platform are available; the former permits translations of up to 1,500 characters, while the latter gives unlimited text translation, improved data protection, and developer access to the DeepL Pro API. More accurate and natural translations are made possible by DeepL’s unique method, which uses convolutional neural networks trained on the Linguee database. The service serves a broad spectrum of customers, from individual consumers to major corporations, and is available through online browsers, desktop programs, and mobile apps.
